アニメ「悪役令嬢転生おじさん」5話感想

第5話「おじさん、二刀流でいく」あらすじ：
　従魔（ビースト）として古代龍（エンシェントドラゴン）を召喚したグレイス=憲三郎。オリオンと名付けられ、炎と水、2つの属性を持つ特殊な従魔は一躍注目の的に。学園長もオリオンに興味を示し、グレイス=憲三郎に学期末に行われる魔法模範演習、通称、マジックエキシビションへオリオンと共に出場するよう提案する……。一方、現実世界。部分的であれば乙女ゲームの世界に干渉し、父親の手助けができることに気が付いた日菜子たちは、引き続きゲームを進めることにする。

Never mind, I figured it out. Anyway, Mechazoid Warrior Wyvern (機械獣士ワイバーン) is pic related, the anime that was mentioned in a meeting in one of the flashbacks. Now, that anime doesn’t exist, BUT it is an obvious reference to Zoids, which aired in 2000. The little dinosaur she mentioned, called Orion, is a reference to the white dinosaur in Zoids called “Zeke.”

アニメキャラが「Otaku」って言うのいいね。近頃は、少なくとも欧米ではほぼ「weeb」に取って代わられてしまったから。個人的にはweebは嫌いだね、だって「アニメのファン」ではなく「シーズンの人気なアニメを消費する人」ってイメージがするから。
この作品はユーモアもキャラもすごい好きだけど、何よりもそのメディアに対する愛が伝わってくるところが一番好きだな。すごく心温まる
It’s nice hearing the characters say “Otaku.” Nowadays, at least in the West, it seems that word has mostly been replaced by “weeb,” which I personally hate because I associate it with someone who “consumes anime and watches what’s popular in the season” instead of a “fan of anime.” I like the humor of the show a lot, and the characters too, but the love it shows for the medium is by far my favorite thing. It’s heartwarming.

Weeabooは元々は「Wapanese」＝日本かぶれの白人の婉曲表現として生まれた言葉だから、日本人に対して使用するのは意味的に不適切だと思う。オタクを訳すのならnerdとかgeekの方が適切なんだろうけど、言いたいことは分かるよ。Otakuは文化の中で特別な位置を占めていて、色んな視覚メディアや専門的な趣味を連想させる言葉だから
Weeaboo was originally turned into a euphemism for “Wapanese”, so it makes no sense to use it on Japanese natives in my opinion. It would be more appropriate to say nerd or geek when translating otaku, but I get what you mean. Otaku has a special place in culture and makes you think of a variety of visual media and specialist hobbies.
