This episode is a good reminder of why Tanjiro as a character is seen as a role model by younger kids in Japan. Like his kind elder brother vibes make him one of my favourite Shonen protagonists and he is able to strike a perfect balance between empathy and pragmatism unlike other normal protagonists.

His empathy is the selling point when I attempt to convince others to give anime a shot. It blew me the f**k away when I first was introduced to the series. Tanjiro’s humanity is seriously next-level. His love and care for his family, his responsibility, the way he would recognise and validate demons as they were dying. Even in the first episode of this season, just the details of him thanking the Kakushi and telling them to be safe in their travels. His kindness radiates.

What a cool friggin way to pass on an ultimate weapon!!! Hide it in an elite training figure so only a swordsman of certain skill could find it! Kind of like Excalibur only being able to be drawn by the one intended person, only Tanjiro was able to discover it with a combo of his strength and personality.
The Hashira is stronger, but I’m guessing didn’t finish it off due to a lack of respect? Like as soon as he knew it wouldn’t help him improve anymore he just broke it and left. Tanjiro went for the kill shot because he respected it, and only followed through when getting permission from Kotetsu.

My first impressions of Tokito aren’t good. His attitude bothers me and he was a d*ck to Kotetsu. Makes sense his crow is kind of a j*rk too. Tanjiro has to beat that guy now, for Kotetsu’s sake! I can’t tell who’s tougher, Kotetsu or Yoriiichi Type Zero. That kid is merciless when it comes to pushing Tanjiro to help him fulfill his goal of whopping Tokito’s ass lol. That grueling training really paid off though! Tanjiro’s improved a lot.
Looks like our boy is getting a new sword. Can’t wait to see it in action!

1話スレで「Ufotableは良いCGを作る暗号を解読した」って言ってたけど、俺は吾峠呼世晴は好きになれるキャラクターの暗号を解読したんだと睨んでる。俺はもうすでにこの復讐に燃える小さな決意の塊のことを大好きになってしまったし、彼と炭治郎のやり取りはこのエピソードのハイライトだった。
無一郎は一見すると嫌なやつで、鍛冶師たちに対して無礼で無愛想だ。でも思い返してみると、天元の初登場のときも俺は同じようなことを思ったけど、結局良い人だったんだから、何も分からんね。最悪のケースでも、蜜璃さえいれば視聴者の柱に対する信頼は取り戻すことが出来る。
Someone in the previous episode thread said that Ufotable cracked the code for good CGI, but I think Gotouge cracked the code for lovable characters. I already love this vengeful little ball of determination, and his interactions with Tanjiro were the highlight of the episode.
Muichiro is an uncaring d*ck at first glance, rude and dismissive to the swordsmiths- like a white-collar worker talking down to a service worker, saying how his time is more valuable. Granted, I thought something similar about Tengen in his first appearance, and he ended up pretty good, so who know? Worst-case scenario, we still have Mitsuri to restore our faith in the Hashira with pure good vibes
